Simon Starling - Potato Print (with Norm)

This new print edition, made using the rudimentary and laborious technique of potato printing, was realized as a response to the lockdown enforced by the ongoing global pandemic – a contemplative moment for rethinking modes of production in a normally peripatetic and highly collaborative art practice. Realized with the help of the Zurich-based graphic design trio Norm and their font Riforma, this simple text work, produced by the repeated block printing of hand-cut potato letters, presents what has become something of a catchphrase for an artist who has constantly attempted to interrogate and expose the means of production of his own work
