Remain' consists of a high resolution photograph of the interior of the lightbox while being switched off- the image is then cropped to the very inner edge. The transparency is printed at a 1:1 scale to the inside edge of the frame of the lightbox. It appears that you can see the interior of the box, when in fact you’re seeing only a facsimile. A 'trompe l’oeil’… a display object- the lightbox- used to display it’s own representation.

& degrading the dialectic of figure/ground relations. The box lights up to reveal it’s appearance switched off… ‘off’ when on and off when off.
